Delivery date and time slots on the WooCommerce block checkout

Bakeries, florists, restaurants and anyone who delivers on a schedule need the customer to pick a day and a time at checkout. WooCommerce has no field for it. Here is how to add one to the Checkout block, and how to stop customers picking a day you are closed.

Ask for a date and a time

With Fieldwright, free on WordPress.org:

  1. Go to WooCommerce → Fieldwright.
  2. Under Order information (or After shipping options, if you want it next to the delivery method), press Add field and pick Date. Label it “Delivery date”.
  3. Set an earliest and latest date if you want to keep the choice within a window.
  4. Add a Time field the same way, labelled “Delivery time”.
  5. Save. The answers show on the order screen, in the order emails and on the confirmation page.

A date is stored as YYYY-MM-DD and a time as HH:MM, so they sort and export cleanly.

Close the days you do not deliver

A plain date field lets a customer pick Sunday, or tomorrow morning when you need two days. Fieldwright Pro adds date rules to the same field:

  • the weekdays you do not work;
  • individual blocked dates, such as holidays;
  • a lead time, so the earliest day allows for preparation;
  • a furthest date ahead.

All of them work in your store's timezone, not the customer's.

Offer time slots, and stop overbooking

Instead of a free time, Pro lets a time field offer named windows, such as “Morning, 9 to 12”. Each slot has a start, an end, the weekdays it runs on and a daily capacity. When the customer picks a date, the checkout checks which slots still have room and greys out the full ones.

Charge for a premium slot

If an evening slot costs more, a dropdown or radio buttons field can add a fee to the order, with its amount shown beside the option: “Evening +$8.00”.

Plan the day's deliveries

  • Add the delivery date as a sortable column in WooCommerce → Orders.
  • Export a date range to a spreadsheet with one row per order and one column per field.

Both are Pro. See what Pro adds, from $49 a year for one store, with a full refund within 14 days.
